The MDCOA
In the military there is something known as a Most Dangerous Course of Action (known as an MDCOA or “Medco”). The MDCOA is an evaluation of a worst case scenario. It looks at the battlefield and plans under the presumption that the adversary achieves maximum success and everything goes wrong. Even defeat must be planned for if success is to be achieved. Ultimately.
With midterm elections fast approaching, Democrats appear to be optimistic pertinent to gaining more seats in the federal legislature. They are contending with an executive branch that is somewhere south of insane and there is historical evidence that seems to warrant their confidence. Specifically, what is known as “the midterm law.” The rule states that the political party of the sitting president almost always loses seats in Congress during midterm elections. With “Smitty” Trump at record disapproval ratings what could possibly go wrong?
Plenty.
PACE Yourself and Brace Yourself
An MDCOA is almost always accompanied by a PACE plan. This acronym means: Primary, Alternate, Contingency and Emergency. Basically the PACE plan is damage control and loss reduction upon manifestation of the MDCOA. Roman writer Vegetius wrote “If you want peace, prepare for war.” That preparation requires an MDCOA evaluation and I wonder if Democrats have conducted due diligence in this regard. And though it is impossible to plan for every possible contingency, some things are more likely than others.
What happens if Democrats lose seats in both chambers (legitimately or otherwise)? What will they do for the next 24 months until the general election; which is bound to be a circus? What is the agenda? What is the strategy going forward under duress? Will they become political eunuchs, gut punched and unable to govern (not that they are setting the world on fire doing it now)?
What happens, in these next six weeks, if the United States is “attacked?” False-flag or otherwise? Do they really think that the tripped-out-Trump tramps aren’t capable? What if there is a massive natural disaster?
Trump is desperate. Trump is dangerous, as is his cabinet. The world knows this. The world is resultingly nervous and unstable. The United States and Israel are the sources of that instability. The world is at war in a multiplicity of forms. The economy is about to have its bottom fall out. And, there is a madman conducting the orchestra.
John Kerry was famous for repeatedly saying, during his 2004 presidential campaign “I have a plan for that.” Whether he really did or not didn’t matter, that was his answer. I sure hope Democrats have reconnoitered, come up with the proper threat assessment and planned accordingly. Because you can bet your ass their opponents have.
and then supposing they do win? why, now, do i care when collapse is the better option than a democratic success, unless that success leads to the collapse advancing even faster?
on the other hand, our glorious leader is too stupid to even be a successful autocrat so that's what will give their best chance to totally turn American democracy and America despair. into its final breaths
I have little to no confidence in the leadership of the Democratic Party. It is apparent to the most casual of observers that they have learned very little from their previous losses. The consultant class of the Democratic Party would rather get their ‘payday checks’ and lose an election, than support a progressive candidate who may want things like Medicare for All which polls say is a majority opinion in the party.
