Yesterday, former, and likely, President Donald Trump made claims that President Joe Biden and the FBI intended to assassinate him during a search of his Mar-a-Lago resort in 2022. The FBI had issued a rare statement refuting these allegations, clarifying that they had planned the search while knowing Trump was hundreds of miles away in New Jersey. Agent Orange has asserted that President Biden authorized the Department of Justice to use “deadly force” during the raid.
Exactly eight weeks ago, I wrote an article entitled “The Specter of Trump's Reelection May Lead to What He Calls a Bloodbath... (But there is something far worse than his reelection that could occur).” In the article I specifically state: “Nonetheless, there is one thing that would be far, far worse than either and it is quite possible. That would be the assassination of a high-profile politician in either branch of government or, absit omen, either candidate, especially Trump. Think long and hard about what I am presenting to you, here.” Trump's Bloodbath
What I did not include in the article was the fact that the sociopolitical situation is so unstable in the United States that there could a faux assassination that would lead to incredible violence. A rumor, a deep-fake, disinformation, misinformation of such an event could become a runaway train in a heartbeat. The mere assertion made by Trump of assassination is very, very troubling and I will explain to you why.
Trump has been setting himself up as a martyr since his first impeachment when he stated he was, of all things, “lynched.” Now, at his rallies he says: “they want to take away my freedom, so they can take away yours…they want to silence me because they want to silence you…I am the only thing standing in the way and if they are allowed to cheat again, you’re not going to have a country.”
Like it or not, more than a third of the population supports Agent Orange (that is a conservative estimate) and he used those very words recently when addressing the NRA. My point is, a good portion of his constituency are gun nuts, cops, military personnel and your garden variety redneck racist; many of whom are unstable to begin with. His priming the pump, so to speak, is making many of them paranoid and he has personalized his campaign in such a way that any “attack” on him, real or imagined, is an attack on them.
Just like he said.
This is an extremely dangerous time. Be mindful that the United States leads the world in political assassinations both at home and abroad. The situation is made even more dire in that it isn’t just the Trump flank that can be easily animated in a violent way, it is the other side as well. The so-called “left” may see Trump as such a threat that their fringe goes bonkers and the situation devolves into a tit for tat scenario. As I have said before and am obliged to state again: the United States cannot pull itself back from the edges of the abyss it finds itself facing domestically or internationally and there is no winning, only degrees of losing.
Simultaneously on the international front, it has been only two years since the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo. On May 15, 2024, an assassination attempt took place in the central Slovakian town of Handlová, targeting Prime Minister Robert Fico. Iran’s President was killed just days ago in a helicopter crash that I hope like hell wasn’t sabotage. And Ukraine’s unelected President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy’s life ain’t worth a plug nickel.
A few days ago, I had a great discussion with one of our subscribers and, at some point, she spoke of the responsibility “we” have to leave a manageable world for our children. That statement made me melancholy for the entire day because there isn’t a thing on this planet that I adore more than my children. They were wanted, loved, well taken care of and respected. However, when I think back to when the oldest was born over 30 years ago, the state of the world today (especially the United States) and my maturation as a man I would never have had them. Had I not been so selfish, they would be spared this terrible mess humanity has on its hands.
I have had your article on my mind all day since reading this morning and remarking on its prescience.
You mentioned Japan and Slovakia as having experienced assassination or attempted assassination with Iran losing it's prime Minister.
I think that while noting these recent assassination events (Iran unknown) is an important reference to recent events regarding this subject, it leaves out two important and relevant facts about these events and their respective local social effects.
First is that a "blood bath" did not result in these respective countries from the attempted assassination nor the assassination that was completed.
Second is that all three of the countries sighted in this article either have extreme firearms restrictions (Iran) (Japan) or highly restrictive gun regulations (Slovakia).
This country USA), as you have pointed out many times in other articles is the most heavily armed population on the planet.
Any argument for the dismissal of your premise that a "blood bath" could ensue with a current political assassination in this country should consider the ramifications of the "unrestricted" gun laws in this country along with the number of firearms in circulation in this country as well as the chaos in the aftermath of the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy 60 some years ago.
(Others excluded only for expediency. )
You are correct my friend, but unfortunately these examples of resent assassination and assassination attempts around the world don't do justice to the extreme dangers that exist in our country today, should we repeat our storied history of political assassinations.
Thank you again for your insights and the opportunity to contribute to a conscious community.
As a first responder for many years, the mantra has always been "make good choices, don't become the victim, victims can't save anybody ".
Be well everyone, be good to the people in your life, resist the inclination to argue with idiots, and stay safe.
Best piece you’ve written for Substack, Rohn Kenyatta. Thank you.
In return I gift you the unfairly forgotten word “kakistocracy,” and eagerly await the uses to which you may assign it.
