"The problem was with the optics his persona showcased."

^^nailed it

White supremacy and greed are basic American values, but they aren't supposed to show. That's what the Democrats are for. They give us a way to pretend we can vote against white supremacy and greed.

What good are voting rights when your demockeracy gives you a "choice" between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton? Obummer and McCain? Bush and Gore? Wilson and Roosevelt? Jefferson and Hamilton? The Republicans pee on my head and call it Trickle-Down Economics. The Democrats wave their BLM and Pride flags and promise me a dab of vaseline they never seem to have handy at the right moment. I have one political option left, and that's making fun of their bullshit.

Got a problem with the Supremacy Court, do you?

Another fine article, thanks.

You, Sir, are too smart for your own damned good and perilously honest. Honesty is not a virtue given your hue. It may, in fact, become your proverbial Waterloo and none of the other European kids will want to play with you. A problem I don't have.

White privilege at its finest.

Your charm and wit are appreciated.

Charm may have been a little much.

"Charm," now that's a new one, ha ha.

“Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?' But, conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one's conscience tells one that it is right.”

Dr. King

Read that when I was too young to shrug it off. It arrowed straight in past all the make believe and make nice, and got me, but good. Haven't had a chance in this world since, my friend. Thanks for all the good teaching.

"I often find myself astounded at the media's, as well as the opposing political party's, obsession with him [Trump}."

Mr. Kenyatta, I'd like to offer a potential explanation for what you call obsession.

Simply put, both aggression and sex are controlled by neurons in the hypothalamic region of the brain. Depending on childhood conditioning, some people experience aggression and sexual arousal as the same impulse – release through aggression. Put another way, for some people, aggression/violence is a form of masturbation (or relief).

Look closely; the expressions on the faces of a lot of people involved in the jan-6 insurrection suggested arousal (rather than anger, rage or purpose). You see the same expression on the faces of people at Trump’s rallies – and when these people are interviewed, its like trying to talk to someone close to orgasm – (too pre-occupied to think).

I happen to think that is what happened to the professional media. Just like MAGA voters, the media is getting off, on Trump (releasing pent up frustration and aggression). Why is the professional media so frustrated – and angry? I think social media is the reason.

Social media was still coming of age during the Obama presidency. Trump is the first president in the full-blown social media age. By the time Trump rode that escalator, the traditional media was hugely outnumbered by social media’s wanna be reporters and op-ed writers.

Social media is inexhaustible and never stops shoving Trump in our faces. While social media is unaccountable, reporters are accountable for every word they write and say. Harder still, on social media, people like you and me, and your readers, hold ourselves and each other accountable.

No matter how hard I try, I cannot go one day without Trump popping up somewhere. I am so frustrated and angry, I’m ready to say fuck it, lock and load, stand my ground and enjoy some relief. I have not done that, because I know that the only reason I can even consider it is because I live in the country.

Anyways that’s where my mind took me while reading your article.

PS. Good morning

That is as fine an analysis as I have seen; quite intriguing. However, given your stellar intellect, hardly a surprise.

I am working on a piece that has taken a month to contemplate that I am almost certain you will have some thoughts on. It may be my last because I am going to pay a heavy price for it.

I look forward to it and really enjoy your intellect, your voice and hope there’s much more to come. As a white 62 yr old woman I am sorry what many of us strived to change has never happened! I despise what we are and fear what is coming but know I will be seen in a different light and am privilege though I speak loudly against injustices. I really appreciate you and your work! Peace!
