The Biden Pardon: Society Is NOT "Broken" It Is Defective
DD and ACD: Delusional Disorder and Anglo Cognitive Dissonance
I Beg Your Pardon!
Less than 24 hours ago, President Joe Biden issued a “pardon” to his son Hunter. The presidential move spares junior a possible prison sentence for felony gun charges as well as tax convictions. The president’s sweeping pardon covers not just the gun and tax offenses against junior, but also “any other offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024.”
Breathtaking.
Biden’s nepotistic pardon comes at a time when the United States prepares to install the incoming president elect, Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump (whom I refer to as Agent Orange), was impeached twice in a four-year period. As of March of this year, Donald Trump has been personally charged with 88 criminal offenses in four criminal cases. This total reflects charges related to Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, election interference in Georgia, falsifying business records in New York, and mishandling classified records after leaving the presidency. He has been convicted of at least 34 felonies in the New York case.
In addition to Agent Orange’s criminal woes, in May of last year a jury found him liable for sexually abusing columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996, awarding her $5 million in a judgment. Despite all of this, the impeachments were ineffective and he was acquitted each time. One by one his criminal indictments are disappearing, for whatever reason. He will never spend a day in jail (only a complete idiot would have thought he would) and has not paid a dime in the civil judgement. Most stunning, he executed the ultimate coup de grâce by being elected your president…again.
White Privilege
I have a compendium of denialistic responses from European-Americans when it comes to racism and white supremacy (and they are two different things). I have heard them all and they all tend to be as equally pathetic as they are unimaginative. Pursuant to that stark reality, someone will ultimately say to me “it has less to do with color than it does power and privilege.” I’d bet my left testicle someone reading this is already on defense with that very statement.
I wonder do people think about the things that come out of their mouths before they say them.
Or, better yet, after.
Barack Obama once said, subsequent to the white-vigilante murder of a child named Trayvon Martin, “if I had a son, he would have looked a lot like Trayvon.” So, let us stretch out with that metaphor for illustrative purposes and assume that Obama is still in office. 54 year-old Trayvon Obama is, or was, a crackhead that had illegitimate children, liked prostitutes and strip clubs and lied on federal documents.
In the waning days of Obama’s presidency, he does the same thing Joe Biden did…he gives a sweeping pardon to junior. A pardon not only for his known crimes, but those that may have not been yet discovered, disclosed or are still under investigation. Had Obama done that European-Americans would have gone batshit crazy. Hell, they went batshit crazy when Obama committed the unspeakable act of wearing a tan colored suit to a press conference.
He never wore that suit again; I think he burned it.
While I am on a bit of a roll/role here, let us not forget one John Hinckley, Jr. In this case “junior” shoots a sitting president! Hinckley not only damn near killed President Ronald Reagan, he seriously wounded others as he emptied his revolver in a six shot barrage that breaks down as follows:
The first shot: Critically wounded James Brady, the White House Press Secretary. The second shot wounded Thomas Delahanty, a D.C. police officer. The third shot missed Reagan and hit a nearby window. The fourth shot hit a Secret Service agent on Reagan’s detail named Tim McCarthy. The fifth shot hit the presidential limousine. The sixth shot hit Reagan in the left underarm, grazing a rib and lodging in his lung. Reagan suffered from a punctured lung and heavy internal bleeding.
Press Secretary Brady would suffer severe brain damage and never walk again. He eventually died from the wounds suffered in the shooting. The medical examiner determined his death to be a result of the "gunshot wound and consequences thereof,” it was labeled a homicide.
Now, ask yourself, in your heart of hearts, if a Black Man in the United States could commit such atrocities and live to tell the tale. Junior suffered nary a scratch and was found not guilty by reason of insanity to all his 13 charges on June 21, 1982 and was was confined at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. When interviewed by Penthouse magazine and asked what a typical day was like at the hospital he responded he would "see a therapist, answer mail, play guitar, listen to music, play pool, watch television, eat lousy food and take delicious medication.”
Slowly but surely, Hinckley would be allowed off-site trips under custodial supervision. Then overnight visits with his parents. Then unsupervised multiple day visits (including overnight) with his mother. Then a driver license. Then, ultimately, Junior was released, all nice and sane. He has opened a music store and gives live performances (he’s a musician you know). Hell, Junior even has a recording contract and his very own You Tube channel! Check it out.
Hawtdamn, I love ‘Merika!
You’ll pardon my emotional outburst, I’m sure.
Broken Versus Defective
As a young executive at Mattel, I was responsible for hiring all exempt technical personnel. I don’t know if that term “exempt” is used anymore, but it essentially meant salaried/management level personnel. Several times each day, if time permitted, I would take the shuttle from our executive offices to the plant three or four miles away. Since several of the departments I was responsible to were located in the facility I would do my industrial relations thing and check in on the powers that were.
During those visits I learned a lot about manufacturing: reliability, procurement, quality assurance, quality control, destructive testing, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, manufacturing processes and a plethora of other things. Rarely did a defective product make it out of the plant because the Q.C. was so tight and rigid, from procurement to packaging. After all, most of our products would end up in the hands of children (except the M-16 stuff). Nonetheless, once or twice there was a defect.
A defective product is a result of some problem in the manufacturing flowchart. It could be at the very start, let’s say procurement or a design flaw. Perhaps the buyer went to a different vendor for a particular widget and the specs were off. That one thing could ruin the entire process. Perhaps one of the numeric control machines was out of whack; it could be a million things but the point is the end product was not broken, it was defective. They are two entirely different things.
Since the recent general election politicians of every possible ilk are making the statement that “America is broken,” or “our politics are broken.” I have heard this bullshit for years. I hear it after every mass shooting. I hear it with regard to healthcare, or the lack thereof: “our healthcare system is broken.” “Our legal system is broken.” “Our educational system is broken.”
No, your product isn’t “broken.” Broken means it was once unbroken and, furthermore, that it might be able to be repaired. Defective means that it never met the threshold to be what it was designed to be. It was tainted from conception. Broken is a damned sight different than defective and your product is defective, as are all of its parts. Only the delusional and cognitively dissonant are unable to see that, which is why the product is and always has been, defective.
Rohn, sorry for responding so seldom. I’ve been quite busy trying to keep my writing and self-publishing business going and keeping Barbara happy after the election fiasco that time escapes me. I realize it’s not important because the depth of your truth and clarity need no response.
It is difficult to contain the anger, being an angry person from the get-go. When I hear all this MAGA mess, it’s so obvious that there is no clue as to the meaning of Again. For those who don’t get it, you have to do it before you can do it again. Greatness just isn’t in the cards for us and never has been.
I’m reading a history of Aaron Burr now and while he was no prize, he was a prince compared to almost all the dishonorable, dishonest characters of the time. We are definitely moving into an awful time, but the past sure as hell has little to take pride in.
I know you are a little more optimistic than I am, but I honestly don’t believe we will ever take a step to own our shit and therefore improvement is beyond our grasp.
Keep the truth coming. Even when I’m not responding, I await every sentence. Thanks.
The defective part is the "intellectual hypocrisy" nature of the being.
