This may be a tough piece to "like", but there isn't a single thing about it that isn't true.

Hopefully we can all read this truth telling with faux-patriotism at rest, so we don't miss the part where we're supposed to look in the mirror.

The patient cannot begin to heal without a thorough examination - including patient history, if at all possible. I was a firefighter/ EMT in a large city for a time. Knowing what is killing your patient is the very first thing you need to figure out - and quickly.

The United States is extraordinarily sick at present, even by our own standards. The healing can only begin after we've set aside our fears and acknowledged the inherent strength we all hold to look at another being and see ourself.

This piece by Kenyatta is a tough one, but it's as close to objective as any other. And no, I don't say that to all the guys..
