The U.S. Presidential Election a.k.a. Weirdopalooza
If this socio-geopolitical travesty weren't so tragic it would be hilarious...but it ain't.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term travesty is defined as “a debased, distorted, or grossly inferior imitation. a travesty of justice. 2. a burlesque translation or literary or artistic imitation usually grotesquely incongruous in style, treatment, or subject matter.” There is no definition for Weirdopalooza because it is one freshly minted by yours truly, but I’m willing to bet you can figure it out independent of some snooty dictionary. If you can’t you are lost before this flight gets aloft and have nothing to be concerned about.
Continue napping.
Shaking and Scratching
Clearly there is something wrong with me compared to the aggregate population in the United States. Like a paramour that ends a relationship saying to the dejected, forlorn and ghosted partner “it’s not you, it’s me” I am fully aware that I am the reject, and I own it. Therefore, you needn’t tell me that which I already know.
I cannot help but continuously scratch and shake my head at how dysfunctional the United States is. Then, I scratch and shake my cabeza evermore when I realize that I am among 350 million people that don’t. In fact they, at least by appearances, think they are in a proverbial Shangri-La. Just like people that God “talks” to, I am rather upset that I am unable to experience their collective sense of Shangri-La and God doesn’t talk to me either despite my longing for it to do so. Whatever offense I committed in another life, it had to have been terrible for me to be so cursed.
When I reflect upon the presidential candidates in my lifetime, I am astounded at how these people become the best and brightest that the United States can proffer to lead it. I happen to know a few very decent and intelligent people that would be far better leaders for such an “exceptional” country (and indeed it is). How does someone like either Bush become president (especially Dumbya)? How does a married dude so out of control get a blow job in the “White” house? He couldn’t afford a room?
Now, far be it from me to indict those guilty of instances of moral turpitude. For me to do so would be the epitome of hypocrisy and I would become my own prosecutor and executioner. However, I am not running for high office, nor would I given my severe olfactory aversion to things that stink.
Think of the freaks who have been president and vice president. Nixon. Reagan. Arch-racist Lyndon Baines Johnson. Ford. Cheney. Pence. Obama. Biden (on both counts). And then, of course, there is the coup de grace one Donald Trump. Agent Orange. The human carcinogen, himself.
Cycle after cycle, decade after decade, presidential candidates seem to get worse and worse. Not once in my lifetime has there ever been a presidential election in which voters had such tremendous, intelligent, good natured, fair-minded candidates to choose from that the choice was difficult because the candidates were so wonderful. Nope, the choice is always a matter of which of these morons is worse. That is the presidential electoral paradigm and this year’s election is the crown jewel of that pathetic state of affairs.
Donald Trump or Kamala Harris? Are you fucking kidding me? I would not want to have dinner with either. Hang out with either or be in the room with either (though I have met Ms. Harris). I wouldn’t piss on either of their faces if their teeth were on fire!
Since “a picture is worth a thousand words,” let us examine the imagery of the past eight years. We will start with Trump, elected in 2016. The day of his inauguration there was not celebration, there was crying, people threatening to leave the United States (the smart ones did) and “pussy” was in the air, everywhere; in the form of a pink hat. A year and half later clashes broke out between white supremacist-nationalists and counter-protesters during a “Unite the Right” rally at a park once named for Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. Remember those images?
About a year and a half after that, there were massive demonstrations across the country due to the political exploitation of the murder of a Black Man in the United States by police named George Floyd. It was political exploitation during an election year, period. It was not because of any regard for the personage of George Floyd or other Black People in the United States as we are murdered, abused and disrespected daily by the police and it has been that way since the United States began. In fact, police killings have accelerated under the Biden administration, along with killings by other “patriots.” It is police-y.
Let us not forget the elephant in the room: Mr. Covid. Remember the images of bodies in makeshift morgues? Remember the eerie empty streets? The eerie empty store shelves? My daughter was a junior in college that year and it will forever be emblazoned on my mind how she could not go out and on the rare occasion she did she stripped at the front door while I placed her “contaminated” clothing in a plastic bag. Slowly, but surely, I watched the social isolation take a toll on her.
I remember two women in a parking lot fist-fighting over toilet paper, an image hard to forget. I remember the image of Lysol and bleach, if they could be found, locked up in safes. In the beginning there were no masks available and people were charging ten dollars apiece for them. I remember the images of used masks littered all over the streets and parking lots. Mr. Trump’s final image that I remember is a bunch of entitled, inbred, rednecks breaking windows, doors and barricades at the U.S. Capitol as they beat fleeing police and smeared feces on the walls.
Mr. Biden’s turn.
I don’t have to remember images of the hundreds of thousands of homeless people in the United States, which has increased under Biden, because I see it every single day. I remember images of the anguish filled faces of the open slaughter of women, children and men in Yemen. A slaughter that could not occur without the United States sanctioning it.
I remember images of people in Afghanistan holding on to landing gear, wings and tail sections of passenger jets taking off from Afghanistan as the United States retreated after vanquishment by the Taliban. I remember images of those desperate people falling from thousands of feet in the air to their deaths on the concrete below. I remember, daily, images of genocide and abject murderous conduct by an apartheid, thug nation called Israel in Palestine. Oddly enough, I have zero images of anything positive from the past eight years that is noteworthy and the pictures tell the tale.
The looming election will be held November 5, 2024, but it is November 6, 2024 when I will have more grim images to remember.
So will you.
::When I reflect upon the presidential candidates in my lifetime, I am astounded at how these people become the best and brightest that the United States can proffer to lead it.::
You know that "the best and the brightest" means "the lowest common denominator of what a plurality of the American people can more-or-less support, after juggling the Electoral College's rigging the vote in favor of Rich White Male Property Owners", Rohn. The fact that Some Rancher in Montana with a TRUMP4EVER billboard on his property's vote counts for a lot more than yours and mine put together does, to say nothing of the Billionaire Casino Owner's or TechBro's, is an ugly reality most of us in *capite censi* have dealt with our entire lives.
These assholes are why we were given the "choice" of Fake-"Feminist" and Fake-Qualified Hillary Rodham Clinton versus Reality TeeVee Clown Donald Trump, the two worst candidates in history, in 2016. They were both so bad that Lifetime Party Hack Joe Biden looked good by comparison in 2020, and that he wasn't quite as horrible as I feared he'd be was such a relief that I was supporting him this year until he read the tea leaves and stepped aside for Kamala Harris.
I don't know what kind of a President Harris will be, but as a candidate I'm delighting in watching her HUMILIATE Trump on a daily basis, which only makes him humiliate himself even more! 😂 Still, we could've had President Bernie Sanders in 2016, only the "smart people" wouldn't let him.... 🤬
